AQA A Level Music: Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro

Workshop 3pm – 5.30pm with short break

The workshop will be tailored to suit the needs of AQA A Level Music students and will feature an introduction by Dr Steven Kings and Tessitoura’s Stage Director Charlotte Monk as well as performances of the set pieces by the cast which will be analysed and discussed. Opportunity will be given for the students to interact with the singers and directors and to participate themselves.

Steven Kings is a composer, conductor, pianist and teacher based in Bristol. He teaches piano at Clifton College, is Assistant Music Director of Bristol Choral Society, and conducts the choral societies in Monmouth and Thornbury.  He  has led a number of workshops over the years, and has huge experience of exploring classical music with students of all ages.

A former drama teacher, Charlotte Monk is an experienced director of award winning operas for Bristol Opera and co-runs and directs summer touring operas for Tessitoura.

Musical Director Arne Kovac is co-founder of Tessitoura and has been conducting operas for over 25 years. This is his 5th production of The Marriage of Figaro.

A staged performance of the entire opera, sung in English with orchestra, follows in the evening at 7 pm.
