Inclusive Teaching Includes Everyone
So am I teaching neurodivergent singers differently?
Well, yes, in the sense that I teach every pupil differently. Everyone comes with their own strengths, sensitivities, and ways of learning.
But do I have a separate approach?
No.
Some singers need more flexibility. Some need clearer structure. Some need more autonomy. Some need fewer words and more demonstration.
That isn't specialist magic. It's person-centred teaching.
I think of it like a ramp beside a staircase. It might be installed for a wheelchair user. But parents with buggies use it. Travellers with rolling suitcases use it. So does anyone who simply prefers it.
The ramp doesn't take anything away. It adds options. It adds access.
Teaching is similar.
When lessons are built around clarity, flexibility, and collaboration, neurodivergent singers can engage more fully. And so can everyone else.
